  • What preparation do I need to make before work begins?

Please remove any pictures or shelves from exterior walls, as we will vibrate the walls. If you have something that is not on an outside wall, but are concerned about, you should remove it.

  • How long before the work begins?

Typically 2 to 3 weeks after the contract is signed. Depends on type and amount of work being done, weather conditions, etc.

  • How long will the work take to complete?

Siding: Typically 7 to 10 days. Depends on the amount and type of siding, layout of the home, etc.
Windows: Typically 2 to 3 days. Depends on the number of windows, type of windows, etc.
Doors: Typically 1 day. Depends on how many.

  • Do we need to be at home while the work is being done?

Siding: It is not necessary while the work is being performed. It is a good idea to be there the day work begins, so if there are any questions they can be addressed.

Windows and Doors: No it is not necessary while the work is being done, but we will need access inside the home to trim windows, etc.

  • When replacing old siding, is all the old siding removed on the first day?

No. We work the home in sections, trying to take off only what we can replace in a day.

  • How do you keep rainwater from getting into the house?

The siding is designed to take the brunt of the water. The moisture barrier ,in conjunction with flashing and window tape, keeps the water from getting into the wall cavity.

  • How do you manage the discarded construction debris, and what should I do to prevent flats in my tires and damage to my car?

Whenever there is heavy construction debris it is good practice to park as far from the work being performed as possible. Our crews make an effort to perform regular clean ups to keep your home site as neat as possible. Upon completion of the job, our crews complete a final clean up and use a nail sweep around the areas they have been working on to prevent any future damage.

  • Will this protect my house if it floods?

No, Siding systems are designed to shed water down the walls. It will not stop rising water from major or localized flooding.

  • How do you work around plants?

Some homes have flower beds right up next to the home and we cannot avoid them. No matter how careful we are, we have to get into the flower beds to work and some damage may occur.

  • Do you usually find much damage behind the old siding?

Yes. Most of it is negligible and requires only minor repairs. About 30% of the time we find water, insect damage, or structural defects which require additional work.

  • If you do find damage behind the old siding are there any additional charges?

Yes, but all areas requiring additional work will be brought to the homeowner’s attention first.

  • Are all permits and inspections included?

It is not part of the base price, but a salesperson can include it in the price.

  • What are your warranties?

We are members of the Atlantic New Home Warranty Program and follow their recommendation of a 1 year labor warranty issued from the date of completion. Please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty for their products.
